3 Things You Need To Note Before Buying A Carton of Eggs

Read this to the end and thank us later!

#1 Go For Farm-Fresh Eggs

Next time you want to replenish your egg stash, buy farm-fresh eggs from a trusted egg farm. The taste, look, and results of using fresh, pastured eggs will add so much to your meals!

#2 Choose a Verified Source

Buy your eggs from vendors and stores who patronize farms where the producer’s hens have ample space and shelter in clean, well-ventilated barns, gentle handling to limit stress, nutritious, high-quality feed free of antibiotics or hormones, and fresh, pure water whenever they want it.

#3 Pay Attention To Egg Size and Grades

Eggs are sized and graded before they’re delivered to supermarkets and stores.

Each egg is graded by using a high-intensity light to check the firmness and purity of the yolk as well as the density and size (i.e. if there are any air pockets) of the white.

Grade AA: These are the finest quality eggs. The whites are thick and firm, the yolks are free from any defects, and the shells are pristine and without cracks.

Grade A: Compared to AA, Grade A eggs also have clean whites but they may be less firm, the yolk is less protected by the albumen.

Grade B: These eggs have such a reduced quality—they have flat yolks, thin whites, and blood spots—that they will be used commercially in liquid and powdered egg products.

Ok, so now you know what to look for when buying eggs; but how do you determine what sources are truly best?
